This page explains who decides what SavvyKin publishes and how each page is checked.
Independence
- No sponsored rankings. Brands can’t pay for a review, a higher position, or a spot in a “best of” list. We don’t accept paid placements or sponsored reviews.
- We buy what we test. Products are paid for with our own money. We don’t accept free “review units” or special reviewer accounts that ordinary customers wouldn’t get.
- No preview for vendors. Companies don’t see a review before it’s published. If a vendor points out a factual error afterward, we check it and correct it like any other error.
- Affiliate relationships don’t decide verdicts. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
How a page gets made
- Research. We read the vendor’s official pricing, plan, privacy and support pages, plus independent sources such as government agencies and independent security labs.
- Testing. A team member buys the plan and runs the test described on our How We Test page, recording everything in the Test log.
- Drafting. The draft is written from the research notes and the test record.
- Verdict. A person who took part in the test writes or approves the verdict, the score and the “who should skip it” section.
- Fact-check. Before publishing, a separate check confirms every price, plan limit and feature claim against the official source, and confirms that the page claims hands-on testing only for what was actually tested.
- Publish and log. The page shows its last-updated date. Significant corrections go into our corrections log.
How we use AI
We use AI tools to help with research (summarizing official documentation, organizing notes) and first drafts. AI does not:
- test products,
- decide verdicts, scores or rankings,
- invent quotes, statistics, test results or user experiences.
People test, write the verdicts, and fact-check every page before it goes live. If an AI-assisted draft contains a claim we can’t verify from an official source or our own test, the claim is removed.
Our standards
- Say what we tested. Each review separates what we tested hands-on from what we researched. US-only features we couldn’t test are listed in the Test log.
- Calm, not scary. We explain risks plainly and avoid fear-based selling. Most families don’t need every product category.
- No invented numbers. Statistics come from a named, linked source with a date.
- No fake testimonials. We don’t publish made-up reader stories or quotes. Real reader messages appear only with permission and with identifying details removed.
- Not professional advice. We don’t give legal, financial or medical advice. For identity theft and fraud we point to official resources such as IdentityTheft.gov, ReportFraud.ftc.gov and the FBI’s IC3.
- Respect for kids. Parental-control coverage favors age-appropriate, open approaches. Children never take part in our tests: adults run every check on test child profiles, and we never use a real child’s data in testing or screenshots. We report bypass results without publishing step-by-step instructions.
- Evidence before recommendations. A page that recommends or ranks a product doesn’t go live without at least three original screenshots or a screen recording from our own test, plus a “What we couldn’t test” list. Where we haven’t tested a product, the page says it’s researched, not tested, and gives no score.
- One useful page per question. We don’t mass-produce near-identical “X vs Y” or “best of” pages. A new page has to add something our existing pages don’t.
Bylines
Articles are bylined “The SavvyKin team.” We chose a brand byline over individual names. Accountability sits in the published test record (what we bought, when, on which devices, and what happened) and in this policy. SavvyKin is published by SAGO LLC.
Update schedule
- Prices: re-checked monthly.
- Data-removal reviews: updated at the 30, 60 and 90-day checkpoints.
- All reviews and guides: re-reviewed at least every 6 months, and sooner after a major product change, price change, or security incident.
- Scam of the Week: published weekly. Older alerts are updated if official guidance changes.
